BRISTOL, Tenn. – A select group of Bluefield University wrestlers participated in the King University Open, Saturday. The highlight for the Rams was made by Kobe Thornton in his season debut. Wrestling unattached, Thornton captured fourth place.
Thornton lost 1-0 in the second round to Ben LoParo of Belmont Abbey College, then rattled off three consecutive wins including a 9-3 victory over Ben Foskey of Emmanuel College, a fall at the five-minute mark over Devan Holland of Coker University, and a triple overtime 3-2 win over Cameron Dubose. Thornton narrowly lost in his final match, 3-1 to Jacob Telles of host King University.
