It's a wrap. Rams rout KCU in season finale

Box Score BLUEFIELD – The Bluefield University Rams football team wrapped up the 2022 regular season with a 42-8 Appalachian Athletic Conference win over the Kentucky Christian University Knights on Senior Night. With the win the Rams secured second place in the AAC and finished the season with an 8-3 record, 4-1 in the AAC.
INSIDE THE GAME
  • The Rams forced the Knights to a three-and-out on their opening possession, then drove the field and scored on a 14-yard TD pass from Nathan Herstich to JaQuan Ebron.
  • KCU responded with a score and the two-point conversion gave the visitors an 8-7 lead.
  • Bluefield retook the lead with 1:40 to play in the first quarter when Joey Dales booted a 24-yard field goal to make it 10-8.
  • The ground game was big for Bluefield as Abdul Kaloko punished the KCU defense and scored on a one yard run midway through the second quarter. The point attempt failed and Bluefield led 16-8.
  • The Rams scored twice in the final 1:44 of the half. The first a touchdown pass from Herstich to Thomas Lee, and at the gun Dales kicked a 28-yard field goal to give the Rams a 26-8 halftime lead.
  • Cadence Lampp scored on a six-yard pass play from Herstich to make it 32-8 with 6:10 remaining in the third.
  • Herstich passed five yards to Matt Trevillian for a TD early in the fourth quarter and Dales' extra point pushed the score to 39-8.
  • Dales rounded out the scoring with a 31-yard field goal with 5:32 to play in the game.
LEADERS
  • Ebron caught six passes for 64 yards and a touchdown. Ebron finished the season with 1,022 receiving yards.
  • Herstich was 27-of-42 for 311 yards and four touchdowns. Herstich finished the year with 3,183 yards passing and 33 touchdowns.
  • Kaloko rushed for a career high 146 yards.
  • Trevillian caught seven passes for 65 yards.
  • Jewels Gray had five receptions for 76 yards.
  • Tri'Mayal Cash and Tavarius Corbitt each had four tackles.
A LITTLE MORE
  • Prior to the game Bluefield University recognized senior and fifth year football players, and members of the cheer team and marching band.
  • The eight wins in a season are the most for Bluefield University as an NAIA school and the most wins since the program was reinstituted in 2012.
