BLUEFIELD – Dig Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Night for Bluefield University volleyball proved to be a barn burner Friday evening as the Rams battled the AAC's first place team, Bryan College, before falling in five sets. It was the first home defeat of the season for BU, and Bryan remained unbeaten in conference play.
INSIDE THE MATCH

• Bluefield jumped to an early 5-2 lead and built it to seven at 12-5 before Bryan regrouped. The Lions tied the match at 20, took a 23-22 lead and the first set 27-25.
• The Rams took their first lead in the second set 9-8. The teams battled each point with neither team holding more than a three-point advantage. Bryan took the second set 25-23.
• BU held an early three-point lead before Bryan forged ahead. The Lions took a five-point lead at 19-14 forcing a Bluefield timeout. The Rams tied at 21, and scored the final four points of the set for a 25-21 win.
• Bluefield evened the match, winning the fourth set 25-23. Bryan led by as many as three before the Rams pulled out the win to even the match and force a fifth set.
• In the final set Bryan rushed to a 4-1 lead. Bluefield tied at four and Bryan led 8-6 as the teams switched sides of the court. The Lions went on a 7-4 run to take the set and the match.

• Nayerly Jimenez led the Rams with 60 assists and 16 digs.
• Leslie Flores had 23 kills with 13 digs.
• Lauren Sotomayor finished with 23 kills and six digs.
• Adriana Soto Alvarez tallied 21 kills with 13 digs.
• Georgia Lewis had a team-high 26 digs.
• Morgan Coulter collected 10 digs.
