BLUEFIELD – The 24^th ranked team in NAIA, the Columbia International University Rams, defeated the Bluefield University Rams, Friday night in Appalachian Athletic Conference women's volleyball action at the Dome Gymnasium. CIU took the match in three sets to snap BU's seven-game winning streak.
INSIDE THE MATCH

• CIU took the opening set 25-21. The teams battled and neither held more than a three-point advantage until the final points of the set. BU forced a tie at 19, but CIU went on a 6-2 run to end the set.
• Set two was also close. Bluefield held an early two-point lead before Columbia International went on an 8-2 run to take the lead. Bluefield knotted the score at 17, but CIU finished with an 8-2 rally to take the set 25-19.
• CIU built an early six-point advantage. BU charged back and pulled to within one on three occasions before tying the set at 21, and then 22. CIU won the third set 26-24 to take the match.

LEADERS

• Nayerly Jimenez had 33 assists.
• Georgia Lewis finished with 14 digs.
• Adriana Soto Alvarez and Lauren Sotomayor tallied nine kills apiece.
