Baseball rips past WVU Tech

BLUEFIELD – Baseball picked up a 6-1 nine inning non-conference win over West Virginia University Tech, Tuesday afternoon at Bowen Field.
The Golden Bears took the lead in the top of the first, scoring an unearned run on Rams starting pitcher Spencer Ambrose. BC responded in the bottom of the inning. Jeremie Garcia led off with a triple and scored on Ozzie Millet's sacrifice fly. Nate Cobb, who was hit by a pitch later came in on Clay Wisner's double to give Bluefield a 2-1 lead.
Four consecutive doubles by Elianel Mejia, Garcia, Cobb, and Millet, provided three runs for Bluefield in the fifth. The Rams' final run came on a solo home run by George Curbelo in the sixth.
Kody Gardere, the third of four BC pitchers earned the win. Gardere pitched the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings, did not allow a hit or run, and struck out two.
Garcia, Cobb, and Wisner each had a pair of hits for Bluefield College, and Millet had two RBIs.
The Rams return to AAC action as they open a three-game series at Kentucky Christian on Thursday.
