Rams take series opener at KCU

GRAYSON, Ky. – Andrew Arguello tossed a seven-inning complete game four hitter, and George Curbelo was 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Bluefield College Rams past the Kentucky Christian University Knights 13-2 in the series opening game Thursday afternoon.
After trailing 1-0, the Rams took a 2-1 lead in the third and upped it to 3-2 in the fourth. Four more Bluefield runs in the fifth pushed the Rams lead to 6-2. BC scored seven in the seventh to put the 10-run mercy rule into effect after KCU batted in the bottom half of the innings.
Arguello in the complete game win, struck out five and allowed four hits. His catcher for the day, Curbelo, was perfect at the plate going 4-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. David Meech and Taylor Meaux each homered. Meech was 3-for-4 with two runs batted in. Meaux and Jeremie Garcia each had a pair of hits and Garcia had two RBIs. Nate Cobb also knocked in a pair of runs. Meech finished a double shy of hitting for the cycle.
The teams conclude the three-game series Friday with a noon doubleheader.
