Rams take series opener from Milligan

BLUEFIELD - Ben Coffman pitched six strong innings and Ozzie Millet homered to lead the Rams past Milligan University 10-2, in the opening of a three-game weekend AAC series at Bowen Field.
Milligan jumped to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Rams responded in the bottom of the inning. Nate Cobb singled and Millet slammed a two-run homer over the left field wall to give the Rams a 2-1 lead. BC went on to score five in the first to build a lead it would not relinquish.
Coffman picked up the win as he hurled six innings and allowed one run. He struck out two Buffaloes. Tyler Lowrey worked the final three innings to earn the save.
The Rams carried big bats to the plate as five BC players had multiple hits. Millet was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Clay Wisner was also 3-for-5 with a pair of runs knocked in Eligah Lewis, David Meech, and Cobb each had two hits. Lewis and Meech each had two RBIs.
Head coach Mike White said, "It was a great team win. We played outstanding against a very good Milligan club."
The win improved the Rams to 3-1 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference and 6-5 overall. The two teams wrap up the series with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m., Saturday.
