Rams complete sweep

Sparks, Harmon and Nunn hold Johnson to two hits

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Bluefield College softball won its third straight game in Wednesday's doubleheader nightcap at Johnson University. Laken Sparks, Lexi Harmon, and Taylor Nunn combined to toss a two hitter in the Rams' 11-2 win.
The Rams took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third only to see the Royals tie things in the bottom half of the inning. BC then scored single runs in the fourth and fifth inning before erupting for a five-spot in the top of the sixth.
Kristina Sanchez had a pair of hits and knocked in three runs. Macy Martin and Kenzie Lambert each had two hits and two RBIs.
Following the doubleheader head coach Sam White spoke of his team's performances.
"The kids played much better today. Communication is making a big difference in our defense. We have not figured out our offense yet, but we were able to take advantage in a few innings. I'm proud of how they are progressing," White said.
"We got another great start from our pitchers and Taylor Nunn had a shutout inning to close game two."
Sparks started in the circle for the Rams and pitched five innings allowing a pair of hits. Harmon pitched the sixth, and Nunn the seventh.
The Rams are now 4-2 on the season and open conference play at Point, Friday.
