Alice Lloyd slides by Rams in season opener

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. - Softball opened the season Wednesday, Feb. 10 with a neutral site contest against the Alice Lloyd College Eagles. A tough battle throughout, ALC squeaked out a 1-0 win in Coach Sam White's first game at the helm.
Both teams garnered six hits. Kristina Sanchez and Laken Sparks led Bluefield, each with a pair of safeties. Lexi Harmon suffered the loss in the circle. She struck out five Alice Lloyd batters.
 "Lexi Harmon gave us a great start in the circle. We worked runners into scoring position three times but never got the big hit we needed. Our defense settled in after the first few innings and kept us in the game. The offense was unable to gather hits at the same time, but Kristina Sanchez and Laken Sparks started hot," White said.
