Women's volleyball goes Buffalo hunting

BLUEFIELD - Bluefield University women's volleyball picked up a four-set win on Dig Pink Night against the Milligan University Buffaloes, Tuesday night at the Dome Gymnasium, 25-20, 22-25, 25-20, 25-21.
The Rams were down by five in the opening set before rallying, taking the lead and winning by five points, 25-20. Milligan took an early lead in the second set, going ahead by six. The Rams closed to within three at several points but could not draw closer. The Buffaloes evened the match at a game each with a 25-22 win. Milligan led the third set by as many as four before Bluefield tied things at 14. The Rams later expanded their lead to five and went on to win 25-20. The teams played even in the fourth set before BU pulled away late for the 25-21 win.
Aubri Whatcott had 46 assists for the Rams, and Georgia Lewis had 14 digs. Lauren Sotomayor had 21 kills, and Leslie Flores had 15 kills and 13 digs.
Friday night women's volleyball will host the inaugural Alumni Game. First serve is at 6:30 in the Dome. The Rams conclude their home season Saturday morning as they celebrate Senior Day against Johnson University. Match time is 11 a.m.
