Men's basketball falls to CIU

BLUEFIELD - It was a battle of the Rams, Bluefield College vs. Columbia International University, Tuesday evening at the Dome Gymnasium. Bluefield battled hard, but in the end fell to CIU 90-77.
The first half saw the teams trade leads at a furious pace and CIU led by five, 50-45 at the break. Both teams were hot from the field the first 20 minutes, CIU connecting on 55% of its shots, BC sinking 53%.
In the second half the CIU Rams continued their hot shooting and in the first six minutes of the half built a 14-point lead. The lead grew to 20 before the Bluefield Rams battled back to within 12 but could get no closer.
Jermiah Jenkins topped the Bluefield scoring column with 23 points. He was 3-for-5 from behind the three-point line. Trent Dunn and Stanley Christian each popped in 19 points. Dunn had a pair of assists, while Christian had a team high seven rebounds, a block and a pair of steals.
CIU shot 55% from the field in the game, while BC connected on 47% of its attempts.
Corey Benton of CIU had a game high 26 points and eight rebounds. He made 12-of-17 shots.
BC visits Tennessee Wesleyan on Thursday.
