Knights hold off late Rams charge

BLUEFIELD – Stanley Christian fired in 33 points and snagged eight rebounds, but it was not quite enough for the Bluefield College Rams as the Kentucky Christian University Knights snagged a 90-82 AAC win Tuesday night at the Dome Gymnasium.
A close game in the first half, both teams held the lead before KCU pulled away for a 51-45 halftime advantage. The visiting Knights shot a whopping 70% from the field in the first 20 minutes, but the Rams managed to remain close.
In the second half KCU built a 16-point lead with four minutes remaining, but the Rams did not quit, fighting back to within six points in the final minutes.
In addition to Christian's 33 points and eight boards, Jermiah Jenkins and Christian Bullock each tallied 10 points, and Trent Dunn dished out six assists.
For the game Kentucky Christian connected on 55% of their field goal attempts, including 56% of their three-point shots. BC sand 46% of its shots.
Head coach Richard Morgan expressed his thoughts post game.
"We just didn't play hard enough. We didn't come out and play with the same energy we had at Bryan. We just didn't do the things we talked about yesterday in practice and it showed. We didn't get out on people when they'd shoot it. I thought we held some of their guys down, but the other guys got off and just not good enough defense for Bluefield College," Morgan said.
