Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Season Sweep

BLUEFIELD - Men's basketball completed the season sweep of Bryan College and continued to improve in the AAC standings with an 87-78 win over Bryan, Saturday afternoon at the Dome Gymnasium.
The Rams took control of the game in the early minutes and led by 10 midway through the first half, thanks to a three from Stanley Christian. The fast-paced first half saw Bluefield shoot 48 percent from the field, and the 20-minute half was played in 26 ,minutes of real time. The Rams led 40-32 at the break.
Milligan made a run in the second half and drew to within eight points of the lead, but the Rams stood firm and pushed its lead to 14, 54-40 with 14 minutes remaining. The Lions made several other runs and got to within five points with 5:00 to play, but by the 3:00 mark Bluefield had pulled back ahead by 10, and later 13 with just over two minutes remaining.
Jermiah Jenkins topped the Bluefield College scoring column with 24 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Christian and Trent Dunn each picked up a double-double. Christian finished with 19 points and 15 rebounds, while Dunn tallied 11 points and 10 boards.
"It was good because we came off that terrible game we played against Kentucky Christian, we couldn't get over the hump against them. We didn't defend well, and then we came out today and we really played hard and did the things we were capable of doing," said Bluefield College head coach Richard Morgan. "Down the stretch it was a little shaky, but that's okay. We got to work on some stuff in the game, stuff you don't really get to work on in practice.
"I thought overall our guys played well. I thought Trent (Dunn) played a great, great game, a complete game. Of course Stan (Christian), and Flip (Jenkins), they are going to do their thing. Trae Jones came in and played great minutes for us and that's what he is capable of doing. We've got to have a guy who comes in and does that for us and does that for us each and every night. I was really proud of our effort. I think we can get rolling now, going down to Truett McConnell and we'll see how all that plays out."
