Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Union busters

BLUEFIELD - "It feels like a building has been lifted off my shoulders." Those were the post-game comments of men's head basketball coach Richard Morgan, following the Rams 94-73 win over Union College, Tuesday night at the Dome Gymnasium.
The Rams came out hot and took an early six-point lead. Union charged back, but BC was able to lead 41-36 at halftime. The Rams shot 48% from the field in the first 20 minutes.
BC continued its hot shooting in the second half and opened a double digit lead three minutes in. The Rams led by as many as 22 points in the game.
Stanley Christian led BC in scoring with 26 points and a team high nine rebounds. Jermiah Jenkins followed closely with 22 points and six assists. Brandon Shields tallied 14 and was four-for-four in three point shooting, while Trent Dunn ended with 12 points.
The Rams shot 65% from the field and finished the game having made 56% of their shots.
"The guys played hard. They did what they had to do when they had to do it," Morgan said. "A lot of things contributed to this. We pushed it more, we got it up and down, and we got in the 90s again. The games we didn't get it in the 90s, we were walking it up and trying to run plays. That's not us. That's never been us here at Bluefield. We made an adjustment, the guys embraced it, and they came out and executed it with the utmost execution."
The win over the Union snapped a 12-game skid against the Bulldogs. The last Bluefield College win over their AAC foe was on Jan. 25, 2012.

The Rams return to play Saturday, when Montreat visits the Dome for Senior Day. Thursday's game at St. Andrews has been postponed due to COVID issues at SAU.
