BLUEFIELD - Lenyn Napoleon single to left to score the game-winning run and give the Bluefield College Rams a 10-9 walk off win over Truett McConnell, Monday afternoon in AAC baseball action at Bowen Field.
The Rams took the lead in teh third inning on a bases loaded, bases clearing double by
Joseph Cardona. BC then added five runs in the seventh on a barrage of singles and a couple of hit batters to increase its lead to 9-5. The Bears, however, scored four times in the top of the ninth to knot the game.
In the bottom of the ninth leadoff hitter
Wayne Butler was hit by a pitch.
Anderson Xapsos followed with a bunt single and
Elianel Mejia followed with a sacrifice bunt that moved both runners up. TMU intentionally walked
Edgardo Bernard to set up a potential double play, but Napoleon followed with a sharp hit to left that scored Butler with the game-winning run.
Justin Coleman, who pitched the ninth for BC, got the win.
Colton Bochtler started for Bluefield and worked the first six innings. He allowed three runs and struck out four.
Kody Gardere worked two frames and allowed a pair of runs and fanned two Bears.
Napoleon led Bluefield at the plate going 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs.
Eligha Lewis, Xapsos and Mejia each had a pair of hits and Cardona knocked in three runs.
The Rams are back in action Tuesday, March 10 against Shawnee State in Portsmouth, Ohio.
