Rams fall in season opener

BECKLEY, W.Va. - Women's basketball opened the season Tuesday night against defending River States Conference champion West Virginia University Tech, and dropped an 80-65 decision at the Beckley-Raleigh County Conference Center.
WVUT held a double-digit lead after the first quarter and the Golden Bears led 46-24 at halftime. The Rams were stronger in the second half, outscoring WVUT in both the third and fourth periods, but the first half deficit was too much to overcome.
Cierra Cook led BC with 24 points, four assists and a steal. Kylie Meadows, in her Bluefield College debut, added 17 points, five rebounds and a pair of steals. Nialla Curtis was Queen of the Boards with seven rebounds.
The Rams shot 50% from the field in the contest on 29-of-58 shooting.
