Women's hoops drops tough one at CIU

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Nialla Curtis had a double-double. Kylie Meadows had her career high in scoring as a BC Ram, and Emily Breeding and Cierra Cook scored in double digits, but it was not quite enough as the Bluefield College Rams lost to the Columbia International University Rams 73-68, Saturday evening.
CIU led after the first quarter 23-19 and the game stayed close throughout the first half with CIU leading 38-35 at halftime. BC got the upper hand in the third and the teams were tied at 54 going into the fourth quarter. CIU pulled away late for the AAC win.
Curtis led Bluefield as she had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Meadows, a transfer from Oregon Tech playing her fourth game at BC, had a team high 19 points. Cook and Breeding both tallied 12 points. Breeding added seven rebounds, while Cook had six rebounds, five assists and two steals.
The Rams are now 1-3 on the young season.and play next, once again in Columbia, S.C., next Saturday, Nov. 21 against Columbia College. Tuesday's game against St. Andrews has been postponed.
