Women's volleyball outlasts CIU Rams

COLUMBIA, S.C. - One thing was guaranteed going into Friday night's volleyball match at Columbia International University and that was the Rams would win. It took five sets but the Bluefield College Rams defeated the CIU Rams 28-30, 25-22, 11-25, 25-17, 15-11 to improve to 7-5 on the season.
In the first set the teams battled and CIU squeaked out the win 30-28. BC rebounded with a 25-22 win in the second set to even the match, but Bluefield fell sharply and lost the third 25-11. BC, with its backs to the wall, then took the final two sets 25-17 and 15-11 to win their second straight match and improve to 7-5 on the season.The match point was an ace by Aubri Whatcott.
Jessica Wells had a killer match with 23 kills on 55 total attacks. Leslie Flores had 16 kills along with 11 digs. Whatcott had 46 assists. Sophia Sansone had a team-high 18 digs and Claire Fingerlin added 11.
Bluefield continues its Columbia, S.C. weekend road trip with a Saturday afternoon match at Columbia College.
