BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield College women turned in a stellar performance Saturday afternoon at the Dome Gymnasium, but it was not quite enough as the NAIA No. 23 three-Reinhardt Eagles, slipped past the Rams 61-58 thanks to a three-point basket with 14.8 seconds left in the game.
Reinhardt took the early lead but the Rams did not give up. The Eagles led 16-11 after one and by a single point 26-25 at halftime. The Rams took its first lead in the third quarter and went up by as many as three, their largest lead, midway through that stanza. The Rams battled hard and led by a point, 58-57, before Reinhardt hit the go-ahead bucket with 14.2 ticks left on the clock.
The game was close throughout. RU's biggest lead was six points and the score was tied 10 times. There were 16 lead changes.
Cierra Cook topped the Rams' scoring column with 16 points and Kianna Campbell had a team-high nine rebounds and four assists. After shooting 37 percent from the field in the first half, the Rams shot 46 percent from the floor in the second half.
