Box Score EASLEY, S.C. - Warner University handed the Rams their first loss at the NCCAA Baseball World Series late Thursday night, 15-8 in BC's final game in pool play. The Rams await Friday morning's conclusion of Pool B play to determine the seeding of Friday night's semifinals.
The Rams drew first blood with a run in the top of the second.
Lenyn Napoleon led off with a single, moved to second on
Andreas Holtzer's single, and a pair of ground outs brought him home with the game's first run. BC added three more runs in the third, the big hit a bases loaded, bases clearing double by Napoleon that made it 4-0.
Warner broke through with five in the bottom of the third, chasing starting pitcher
Noah Carson.
Aaron Hash came on in relief, but the Royals took the lead in the inning.
BC retook the lead in the fourth on an RBI single by
Jose Santana.
WU added three runs in the fourth to push ahead 8-5, but the Rams chipped away at the lead.
Marcus Espinal reached on a fielder's choice and
Carlos Torres had a two-out double in the fifth. Espinal later scored on a wild pitch and Espinal on an error to make it a one-run game. BC tied it at 8-8 when
Edgardo Bernard walked, then came around and scored on
Jordan Huntley's single. It would be Bluefield's final run of the game.
Warner takes on College of the Ozarks in pool play Friday morning. A Warner win gives the Rams second place in Pool B. A win by COTC creates a three way tie with Bluefield, Warner and COTC, each with 3-1 records and the NCCAA tiebreaker would have to be invoked. Contacted late Thursday night, the NCCAA officials said they would have to consult the rule book for the tiebreaker to determine which teams would advance to the semifinals.
