EASLEY, S.C. - Bluefield College remained unbeaten in pool play at the the NCCAA Baseball World Series after Thursday afternoon's 7-1 win over Randall University of Oklahoma at J.B. "Red" Owens Sports Complex.
The Rams jumped to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second.
Marcus Espinal opened the frame with a single and later scored when
Jose Santana was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. The second run was an RBI single by
Ozzie Millet. BC increased its lead to 4-0 in the fifth, scoring runs on a wild pitch and a fielder's choice. Bluefield added three more runs in the sixth to forge ahead 7-0, thanks to RBI singles by Millet and
Lenyn Napoleon, and a Randall University error.
Randall pushed across its lone run in the bottom of the seventh on a BC error.
Justin Meza earned the complete game victory for the Rams. Meza struck out six and scattered six hits.Â
Jordan Huntley, Santana, Millet,
Andreas Holtzer, and Espinal each had two hits for the Rams.
Bluefield, seeded second in the tournament, wraps up pool play Thursday night at 7:00 against third seed Warner University. Semifinal play begins Friday with the top two teams from each pool advancing. A Bluefield win over Warner would give the Rams the top spot in Pool B.
