EASLEY, S.C. - Alex Perkins struck out 15 Trinity Christian College batters and
Ozzie Millet hit a pair of home runs to lead Bluefield College to a 13-4 win at the NCCAA World Series, Thursday night at Alice Park. With the win, the No. 2 seed Rams moved to 2-0 in pool play.
TCC took the lead in the top of the first but the Rams quickly responded when
Jordan Huntley led off the bottom of the inning with a home run. The Trolls moved ahead 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth only to see the Rams once again take the lead in the bottom of the frame.
Bluefield tacked on three runs in the fifth.
Joseph Cardona had an RBI double and
Marcus Espinal added a two-run double. The Rams added two more in the sixth when Millet slammed a two-run homeer to left to make it 8-3. TCC added its final run in the seventh.
BC exploded for five runs in the eighth when Millet connected for his second long ball of the game, this one a three-run shot to right. The Rams' final score came on Cordona's solo home run to right field.
Perkins picked up the complete game victory and it marked the second straight outing in which he struck out 15 batters.
Millet was 2-for-5 with five RBIs. Cardona and Huntley also had a pair of hits and each also homeored for the Rams.
Lenyn Napoleon had two hits for BC, which as a team pounded out 11 hits.
The Rams are back in action Thursday afternoon against 10th seed Randall University. Pool play concludes Thursday night against third seed Warner University. Both games will be played at the J.B. "Red" Owens Sports Complex. The top two teams in each pool advance to Friday's semifinal round. The championship game will be played Saturday.
