Baseball wins NCCAA Mideast Regional Championship

White gains 399th coaching victory

Box Score OAKLAND CITY, Ind. - Bluefield College won its second consecutive NCCAA Mid-East Region Baseball Championship, Wednesday afternoon with a 6-5 win over Hiwassee College. The win was also the 399th career coaching victory for Coach Mike White. With the win the Rams will play in the NCCAA Baseball World Series May 22-25 in Easley, S.C. A walk-off home run in the ninth by pinch hitter Carlos Torres lifted the Rams to victory.
The Rams came from behind to claim the win over Hiwassee. Trailing 5-2 BC scored three in the bottom of the eighth, the big hit in the inning a two-run double by Marcus Espinal.
Tied at five. Pinch hitter Torres smacked his fourth home run of the season to give BC the regional championship.
Nathan Cutler pitched all nine innings for Bluefield and struck out six to pick up the win.
The Rams advance to the NCCAA World Series for the third consecutive year. Pairings will be announced this weekend.
