Milligan slips past women's basketball in AAC Tournament

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Women's basketball gave it all they had in the first round of the AAC Tournament Thursday afternoon, but in the end the No. 2 seeded Milligan Buffaloes pulled away in the final minute to claim a 56-53 win over the No. 7 seeded Rams in action at the Meadow View Resort and Conference Center.
The two teams met exactly seven days ago at the Dome Gymnasium on the BC campus and the Buffaloes claimed an 81-57 win. This time would be different and much closer. The Rams were determined to fight. Milligan took the early lead but midway through the second quarter BC went on an 8-0 lead to take the lead and carry a 27-21 advantage into the intermission.
Milligan briefly took the lead in the third quarter, but Bluefield came back to regain the lead and led 44-41 headed into the fourth period. The game was tied at 51 with a minute to play when Milligan broke the tie and went on to claim the victory and advance to tomorrow's semifinals.
Cierra Cook led BC with 15 points and Danae Cox added 13. Courtney Kendrick had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The Rams finish the season with a 15-16 record.
