BLUEFIELD – Women's volleyball wrapped up its season sweep of crosstown rival Bluefield State on Senior Night at the Dome with a 25-8, 25-18, 25-9 victory in the regular-season finale Tuesday night.
Prior to the match the Rams honored six senior members of the team for their service to the program – Kaleigh Barker, Christalyn Doig, Paige Fisher, Kailee Kay, Katie Kendrick, Kylee Krug and Whitley Phipps.
BC opened a 6-1 lead forcing State to call its first time out. The Rams continued the rally after the Lady Blues' regrouping and pushed their lead to 12-1 at which time BSC used its final time out of the first set. The Rams went on to win the opening set 25-8.
Set two was closely contested at the onset. The Rams built an early five put lead only to see BSC close to within two at 13-11. BC then scored six unanswered to pull ahead by eight, their biggest advantage of the set. The Rams won the set 25-18.
In the third and final set the Rams took the win 25-9.
Barker in her final game at the Dome had 10 kills and Kassidy Holloway had 17 assists. Fisher in her final match at the Dome had 10 digs.
The Rams also honored Cross Country seniors Jordyn O'Saben, Mark Batoon, Austin Eatmon, Gustavo Gomez, and Tanaka Rushwaya in pregame festivities.
The Rams now await play in the AAC tournament.
