BLUEFIELD – Women's basketball put its two-game winning streak on the line with its first home game of 2019 against St. Andrews. The Rams fought hard but came up short 57-55.
The Rams started, leading 5-2 within the first two minutes. Midway through the first quarter the Rams led 10-7. BC finished out the quarter and led 18-13.
The second quarter continued to look promising for BC as they held a 27-19 lead midway through the period. A solid effort made for a continued lead of 34-23 at halftime. Leaders for BC in the first half were
Danae Cox with seven points and three rebounds,
Kierra Bell-Linnear with five points and five rebounds.
Haley Turman had five points and four rebounds.
In the third quarter St. Andrews was able to tie the score at of 38. Bluefield fought to retake the lead but SAU led 46-43 headed into the fourth period.
The Rams battled to retake the lead in final period and BC fought back to within three at 54-51.
Kendal Cloninger led Bluefield with 11 points, while
Courtney Kendrick and Cox each had eight. Bell-Linnear had 11 rebounds.
