BLUEFIELD - Women's basketball led from opening tip to final buzzer and claimed a 59-45 AAC win over the Truett McConnell Bears, Saturday afternoon at The Dome.
The Rams opened a four-point lead midway through the first quarter and later moved ahead by nine points at 12-3. Bluefield led 16-6 at the end of the first quarter.
Bluefield continued its strong play in the second period and opened a 14-point lead on
Tianna Crockett's trey with just over three minutes remaining in the half. Another Crockett three a minute later pushed BC's lead to 17 points at 28-11. The Rams carried a 28-14 lead into the break.
Truett McConnell cut the Rams' lead to 10 in the third quarter, but the Rams extended it back to 15 and led by 17, 45-28 heading into the final quarter.
Courtney Kendrick's three a minute into the fourth gave BC a 20-point lead, it's largest of the game at that point.
Kendrick finished the game with 17 points and seven rebounds.
Kierra Bell-Linnear had 11 points with five rebounds. The Rams' defense held Truett McConnell to 30 percent shooting from the field for the game.
