BLUEFIELD- The Bluefield College Rams welcomed the Truett McConnell University Bears to the Dome and claimed a 95-88 victory Saturday afternoon.
The Bears started took the early lead but the Rams quickly retaliated which made the score 3-2 Rams. With both teams making multiple shots, the game became tied at eight. The Rams took back the lead at 15-10 then the Bears made a comeback of four points. The Rams extended their lead to 26-14, a 12-point lead, the biggest of the game so far. With the exchange of two- and three-point shots, the score increased to 36-27, Rams. The Bears came back to tie the game at 37-37. The Rams took back the lead for a score of 43-38. The Rams held the lead going into the half for a score of 46-42.
To start the second half, the Rams and Bears exchanged two-point shots. Afterward, the Rams kept extending their lead to 53-44. The Bears slowly closed the gap in points to only a four-point lead for the Rams. For the first time during the game, the Bears took the lead at 60-59 with the Rams quickly taking the lead back at 61-60. Both teams exchanged having the lead multiple times. At 75-75, the game became tied. The Rams and the Bears keep taking shots with the Rams extending their lead 92-85. The final score for the game was 95-88 Rams.
Jermiah Jenkins led with 23 points,
Niquan Cousins had a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Jorge Concepcion III and Ty'Quan Reid had 13 points each and
Brandon Shields and
Donal Gooch had 11 points apiece. Calvin White led in points for Truett McConnell with 22. Christian Davis and Kai Lambert each had 14 and Darius Thrower finished with 12 points.
