Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball takes down Montreat

BLUEFIELD – Women's volleyball snapped its two game losing skid and handed Montreat its first AAC defeat Tuesday night at the Dome.
In the first set the teams tied early at each point before Montreat pulled ahead by three. The Rams fought back to within a point on several occasions but each time the visiting Cavaliers pulled away. The Rams finally drew even at 10 on a kill by Katie Kendrick and took the lead when a Montreat return was out of bounds. The teams battled back-and-forth for points and exchanged the lead midway through the set. The Rams moved ahead by their biggest margin at 20-16 when Montreat called time. The Rams went on to win the first game 25-18.
Bluefield took the lead in the second set on a Taylor Southerland kill and another by Kendrick. BC's lead grew as high as three points early in the game before Montreat fought back to tie. The Rams again moved ahead by three and a MC miscue gave Bluefield a four point advantage. Montreat stormed back and knotted the set at 14. Again the Rams took charge and reclaimed the lead, moving ahead by four on a kill by Kaleigh Barker, forcing Montreat to call time. Kendrick's kill gave BC a six point lead, its largest. Bluefield won the second game 25-18.
Looking for the match sweep, Bluefield went ahead 2-0 in the third game only to see Montreat take the lead by a pair of points. The teams battled until Montreat pulled away by five points late in the set and the Cavaliers took a 25-20.
Game four was as fierce and competitive as the previous three. Montreat took an early three-point lead and built it to six midway through the game. Back charged the Rams and Kendrick's kill made it a one-point game at 16-15. Bluefield tied at 17 and retook the lead 18-17. The Rams' lead grew to three at 20-17 before Montreat knotted things at 20. BC tied at 24 and took a 25-24 lead. The Rams won the match on a Camry McCroskey ace.
