BLUEFIELD - Home was not so sweet for Bluefield College, Monday afternoon as the University of the Cumberlands Patriots spoiled the Rams women's soccer team's home opening game, taking a 5-0 win at the East River Soccer Complex.
The Patriots opened a 5-0 lead in the first half which saw the Rams playing a lady down due to injuries on the pitch. One of the injuries involved goalkeeper Addie Blaine in the 34th minute. Farah Schweers took over in the net for the Rams and for the remainder of the match had 10 saves.
In the second half, the Rams regained full strength and Cumberlands did not score.
Bluefield 0-2, returns to the pitch on Thursday at Kentucky Christian University.
