The Rams started off Senior Night 2018 down 3-6 in the first set against the Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs. Through a hard set battle and three aces by
Kaleigh Barker, the Rams were able to take the lead 14-9 in the middle of the first set. The Rams continued to battle, but came up short in a score of 23-25.
Kailee Kay and
Katie Kendrick both had four kills each for the Rams in set 1. Bulldogs take the lead 1-0.
On to the second set and the Rams started the set off with a 5-1 lead. The middle of the second set was filled with back to back battles, however, the Rams stayed on top for a 16-9 lead. Continuing the lead to the end, the Rams won the second set 25-15. Junior
Kailee Kay had five kills for the Rams to help lead the team 1-1 going into the third set.
The third set started off quick with a 6-4 lead by the Rams. Another back to back battle during the middle of the third set made for a tied score of 14-14. Senior
Camry McCroskey lead the team to a final score of 25-18 win in the third set. The Rams lead 2-1 going into the fourth set.
The Rams went into the fourth set tied with the Bulldogs 7-7. A scoring battle continued for this set, leaving it tied 16-16 midway through the fourth set. The Rams fought hard, but came up short in the fourth set losing 26-24. The Rams are tied with the Bulldogs 2-2 going into the fifth set.
The fifth and final set for the game started with the Rams leading 5-3.
Taylor Southerland,
Kailee Kay, and
Katie Kendrick all had kills to contribute to this early lead. The Rams continued to fight and ended coming up short in the fifth set, losing 14-16. This made for a 2-3 loss over the Bulldogs. This game concludes the 2018 season for the Bluefield Rams Women's Volleyball team.
