BLUEFIELD - The Rams defeated the s Brenau University Tigers, Friday night. Brenau is a new addition to the Appalachian Athletic Conference and made a mark by taking a set away from the Rams and keeping the other three sets close. Bluefield took the first set 25-21 and the second 25-18. Brenau pulled out a close win of 25-23 on the third set. The Rams struck back hard to take the fourth set 25-10.
Seniors Ellen Johnson and Lexie Mocarski, two outside hitters for the Rams, were on fire with 13 kills apiece. Lexie Austin, another senior and a middle hitter for the Rams, came away with eight kills and four blocks. Holding down the defense was sophomore libero Paige Fisher with 18 digs.
