Rams win home opener over Tennessee Wesleyan

BLUEFIELD – Women's volleyball opened the home season Tuesday, Sept. 12, with a 3-0 win over Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Tennessee Wesleyan 25-16, 25-11, 25-16, at the Dome Gymnasium.

The Rams jumped ahead 5-0 in the first set and never looked back, at one point holding a 10-point lead, 22-12, when TWU called time.

Set number two saw BC run out to a 10-4 early lead, then out-score the Bulldogs 15-7 the rest of the game to claim a 25-11 win.

Set three was more evenly matched as the teams were tied early, but the Rams opened an 8-4 lead en route to the 25-16 win.

Camry McCroskey had 19 assists and seven digs, while Lexie Mocarski had eight kills. Kaitlyn Shaver and Ellen Johnson had seven kills apiece. Paige Fisher led the Rams with 10 digs.

With the victory Bluefield moved to 4-8 overall and 1-1 in AAC play.

The Rams host Point, Friday night at 6:30 in the Dome.
