Box Score 2 BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield College softball team won its 21st and 22nd games of the season Wednesday as it took a doubleheader from Columbia College at Graham Rec Park.
In the opening game
Eryn Haley's walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh scored
Kaitlyn Pennington and
Morgan Sawyers to give the Rams a come-from-behind 8-7 win. Bluefield scored six runs in the game's final two innings for the victory.
In the sixth back-to-back home runs by Pennington and Sawyers got the Rams going in the frame and the squad later added two more runs in the inning, before mounting its final rally in the seventh.
Alexandria Bartley worked the final two innings in the circle to get the win in relief of
Daelyn Hedger.
It was a power-fest at the game for Bluefield as the Rams smacked four home runs, two by Pennington and one each by Sawyers and
Meredith Throckmorton.
Pennington finished the game 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Sawyers was 2-for-4, Throckmorton 2-for-3, and Bartley 2-for-32.
In game two Throckmorton got Bluefield on the board with her second home run of the day, a solo shot in the second inning. The Rams added two more runs in the fifth to round out the scoring. Bluefield won despite getting only four hits in game two.
Brienna Sparks picked up the pitching victory as she worked a complete game and struck out four Koalas.
Bluefield is now 22-16 overall and 6-12 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. The Rams visit West Virginia University Tech, Friday in Montgomery, W.Va.
