Box Score 2 BECKLEY, W.Va. - The Bluefield College baseball team pushed its winning streak to five games with a doubleheader sweep of West Virginia University Tech, Wednesday at Linda K. Epling Stadium.
In game one the Rams scored six runs in the top of the sixth to break a 2-2 tie and claim the win.
Bobby Mena,
Erik Williams,
Jordan Jackson,
Nolan Soto and
Xavier Salas all had two hits for Bluefield. Williams connected for his 14th home run of the season.
Caleb Newman got the pitching win for BC as he worked five innings and gave up one earned run on four hits.
Game two saw
Alex Haas pitch four innings of four hit ball to gain the win for Bluefield. Mena was 3-for-4 to lead Bluefield at the plate.
West Virginia University Tech, currently in Montgomery, W.Va., will move its campus to Beckley this fall and Epling Stadium will be their home.
The Rams improved to 19-12 on the season and will host Truett McConnell in an Appalachian Athletic Conference series beginning with a doubleheader, Saturday at 1:00 at Bowen Field. The series will conclude with a single game Sunday at 1:00.
