Box Score 3 MONTREAT, N.C. - The brooms were out Saturday afternoon as the Bluefield College Rams baseball team completed a three-game sweep of the Montreat College Cavaliers in Appalachian Athletic Conference action.
In Friday's series opener BC claimed a 6-1 win behind the hitting of
Hunter Burnette and
Erik Williams. Both players homered and Burnette finished the game 3-for-4.
Daniel Ruiz collected the win on the mound.
In Friday's nightcap,
Austin Browning's two-run homer in the sixth broke a 2-2 tie and lifted BC to a 4-3 win. Williams added two home runs in the game to bring his season total to 13.
Chaz Miller got the complete game victory as he struck out 10 Montreat batters.
The Rams cruised to an 11-1 win in Saturday's series finale, picking up 18 hits along the way.
Jose Perez, Burnette and
Nolan Soto all had three hits apiece, while Williams, Browning and
Matt Ferreira had two hits each. Perez and
Jordan Jackson each drove in three runs.
Christian Sinnott pitched seven innings of three hit ball and struck out eight to get the win.
The Rams are now 17-12 overall and 5-7 in the AAC. They return to the diamond on Wednesday against WVU Tech in Beckley, W.Va.
