Volleyball win streak extended to six

BLUEFIELD – Women's volleyball took to the court at the Dome in search of their sixth consecutive win Thursday night against Montreat. In the end, before an energized crowd, the Rams' streak lived on as they downed the Cavaliers in five games.
 
KEY MOMENTS
·         Game 1 – Montreat broke 8-8 tie with six unanswered to take 14-8 lead. Bluefield rallied back to tie at 19 and took lead 20-19. Montreat went on 5-3 run to win 25-23.
·         Game 2 – Down three, BC tied at nine and took the on kill by Katie Kendrick. Montreat reclaimed lead at 13-12 and opened a five-point lead, 18-13. Rams stormed back to within one at 21-20, 23-22, and 24-23 and tied set at 24. Kaitlyn Shaver kill put Bluefield ahead 25-24. Rams won 27-25.
·         Game 3 – Rams opened 3-0 lead and expanded it to eight points midway through the set. Bluefield's largest lead came at 23-11. The win came on a block by Lexie Austin, 25-13.
·         Game 4 – Bluefield ran out to 4-0 lead, Montreat closed to within a point before the Rams pulled ahead 13-9. The Cavaliers then scored four straight to tie things at 13. Milligan's first lead came at 16-15. Rams drew even at 19. Montreat had 6-2 run to win set 25-21.
·         Game 5 – Montreat jumped to 3-0 lead and Bluefield tied at six. The Rams led 8-7 as the teams changed sides of the court. The Rams closed the game on a 7-0 run as Ellen Johnson's kill ended the night.

·         Ellen Johnson - 17 digs and 12 kills
·         Camry McCroskey - 48 assists and 11 digs
·         Katie Kendrick - 21 digs and 5 kills

·         11 – Consecutive sets BC won before the first set against Montreat.

·         Rams remain tied with Union for first place in the AAC North Division. Montreat remains third.
·         Bluefield did not substitute the entire match.
