Box Score BLUEFIELD - The Campbellsville University Tigers surged in the second half and defeated the Bluefield College Rams 48-34, Saturday afternoon at Mitchell Stadium.
Bluefield took the opening kickoff and drove 63 yards for the game's first score. Ashten Dixon's 19 yard pass to Semaj Tisdale put BC on top with 9:54 to play in the first. Campbellsville responded on its opening drive with a 41 yard pass from Hunter Brown to Jordan Duff. The PAT put the Tigers up 7-6. BC answered on a five play, 62 yard drive capped by Alex Martin's 43 yard TD run. Benjamin Brown's kick put Bluefield ahead 13-7. Campbellsville scored with 37 seconds left in the opening quarter and led 14-13 after one.
Two Bluefield touchdowns in the second quarter, both by Martin, one from one yard and the other from two yards out, and PAT kicks by Brown gave Bluefield a 27-21 halftime lead.
Campbellsville opened the second half and drove 44 yards on nine plays to retake the lead and they never relinquished it. Bluefield's final touchdown of the day came with 3:55 to play in the fourth on a 13 yard run by Kenavus Jones.
Martin finished the afternoon with 98 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Jones added 60 yards on the ground for Bluefield. Dixon completed 10-of-16 passes for 103 yards and a TD.
Campbellsville amassed 486 total yards of offense, paced by Hunter Brown who completed 30-of-50 passes for 392 yards. Wade Holtsclaw ran for 56 yards.
Gabe Spencer had seven tackles for BC, while Frank Brooks, Shaun Kolb and Logan Hinnant had six stops apiece.
The win was the first of the season for Campbellsville, now 1-3, while Bluefield fell to 0-5. The Rams take to the road next week, visiting No. 5 Reinhardt.
