WALESKA, Ga. – Bluefield University freshman linebacker Casaun Hesson has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance in the Rams' 17-14 conference-opening victory over Point University on Saturday.

Hesson provided one of the biggest plays of the game, blocking a Point punt before recovering the loose ball in the end zone for a touchdown.

The special teams score marked Bluefield's first since the 2024 season and helped the Rams secure a victory in their AAC opener.

The Norfolk, Va. native also contributed defensively, recording two tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss against the Skyhawks.

Hesson has appeared in five games during his freshman campaign, totaling five tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss and one quarterback hurry.

Hesson and the Rams will have a week off before returning to action Saturday, Oct. 17, when they host Reinhardt University for Homecoming at Mitchell Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
