BLUEFIELD – The Rams welcomed the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders to Mitchell Stadium Saturday afternoon. The Rams could not hold off the #7 team in the nation, as they lost 62-23.

The Rams came out hot as QB Ashten Dixon ran for an 84-yard touchdown to open the scoring. Lindsey Wilson did not waste any time responding, as they scored on a touchdown pass just 22 seconds later. Kenavus Jones answered with a long touchdown of his own as he ran for a 55-yard score, giving the Rams a 13-7 lead (blocked extra PT). The Blue Raiders responded with two more passing TDs. Alex Martin followed up with a 2-yard running touchdown. At the end of the first half the Rams were still in the ball game, trailing 35-20.

BC had a terrible second half. The Blue Raiders dominated, as they lived up to their national rank. Lindsey Wilson outscored the Rams in the second half 28-3. The Rams only scoring play of the second half was a 31-yard field goal from Benjamin Brown. BC did not take advantage of some opportunities, and also struggled in the special teams department, giving the Raiders great field position to work with. The Rams looked overmatched in the second half, as they ran out of gas.

Ashten Dixon completed 15 passes on 29 attempts for 138 yards, and had 102 yards on the ground. Kenavus Jones rushed for 87 yards with a TD, while Alex Martin ran for 52 yards with a TD. Frank Brooks had 10 tackles on defense, to go along with a few knockdowns.

BC looks forward to next Saturday as the Rams take on Campbellsville University at home.
