Box Score 2 BLUEFIELD, Va. – Baseball is a game of pitching and hitting. Tuesday afternoon at Bowen Field the Bluefield College Rams got good pitching and timely hitting and claimed a doubleheader win over the Point Park University Pioneers 6-0 and 8-0 in the non-conference action.
Delayed more than an hour in its start as the teams waited for the umpires to arrive, Bluefield scored two runs in the first, third and sixth innings to claim the win. Christian Sinnott was stellar on the mound for the Rams as he allowed only two hits, walked one and struck out six in gaining the complete game victory.
At the plate Jordan Ackerman, Garrett Schilling, Nolan Soto, Erik Williams and Pat Gough each had two hits. Williams slammed his 13th home run of the season.
Game two saw Daniel Ruiz take to the mound and toss a three-hit, complete game shutout. Ruiz struck out two and did not walk a batter.
After getting 13 hits in game one, Bluefield had 14 in game two. Ryan Lawson was 3-for-3 while Dylan Lowenstein, Matt Ferreira and Schilling had two hits apiece. Schilling smacked a home run.
The Rams improved to 17-18 on the year and host Hiwassee College for a doubleheader, Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00.
