Box Score 2 BLUEFIELD, Va. – The Bluefield College baseball team returned to Appalachian Athletic Conference competition Friday night with an eye toward extending their four-game winning streak and reaching the .500 mark on the season. However the Milligan Buffaloes stood in the Rams path and claimed a doubleheader win, 5-3 and 7-4 at Bowen Field.
In game one Milligan jumped to a 2-0 lead in the second inning and scored a third run in the third. BC responded in the third when Erik Williams slammed his ninth home run of the season, a two-run blast to left that made it 3-2.
Milligan added a single run in the fifth to make it 4-2 and Bluefield scored a run in the sixth on Dylan Lowenstein's leadoff homer to left. The Buffaloes added an insurance run in the seventh to make it 5-3.
Christian Sinnott suffered the loss for the Rams, while Austin Perry got the win and Jacob Littleton the save for Milligan.
Game two saw Milligan take the lead 1-0 in the top of the first. BC responded in the bottom half, posting a three on the board. Again it was Williams and the long ball for the Rams. The second baseman slammed a two-run homer to left, his 10th home run of the season. Lowenstein scored later in the inning on a single by Nolan Soto.
The Rams' lead held until the third when Milligan scored five runs. The Buffaloes added a run in the fourth. Bluefield scored in the fifth when Williams walked and later scored on Dallas Bacon's single.
Mike Tinucci was dealt the defeat for BC. Corey Jenkins got the win for Milligan and Dustin Cole the save.
The Rams are now 12-15 overall and 2-6 in conference play.
