BLUEFIELD, Va. - Spring Break saw the Bluefield tennis teams head south and play four matches. The Rams took on four North Carolina schools - Mount Olive, Barton, North Carolina Wesleyan and Shaw.
The women's first match was at Mount Olive where they fell 6-3. Gema Mendoza and Paloma Sanchez picked up wins in singles play while the doubles team of Sanchez/Mendoza also gained a victory.  The men fell at Mount Olive 8-1, Bluefield's lone victory coming at No. 1 singles where Markel Aramberri defeated his opponent in three sets.
The next match was at Barton where the women scored a 5-4 victory. Singles victories went to Mendoza, Sanchez, Rebecca Havens and MyKenzie Roach. The doubles team of Havens/Roach also claimed a win.
The men fell at Barton 5-4. Lochlan Kitchen, Carton Tugman and Patrik Martin all gained singles victories, while the doubles team of Aramberri and Martin took a win.
The women suffered another slim defeat at North Carolina Wesleyan, losing 5-4. The duo of Sanchez and Mendoza won their doubles match, while Sanchez, Mendoza and Roach each won in singles.
The men dropped a 6-3 decision to Wesleyan. The Kitchen/Holmes doubles duo claimed victory and in singles play Kitchen and Martin were victorious.
The final stop of the spring break road tour was at Shaw where the Tigers defeated the women 6-1. Bluefield's lone victory was at No. 2 singles with Sanchez.
The men fell to the Tigers 5-4. with singles wins by Aramberry, Kitchen, Holmes and Martin.
