The Bluefield College men's soccer team will host the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday. As the No. 4 seed, the Rams will take on No. 5 seed Reinhardt. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. at the East River Soccer Complex in Bluefield, W.Va.
The Rams secured the No. 4 seed with an overtime-thrilling 3-2 win on the road last Saturday over Montreat in the season-finale and finished with an overall record of 10-6-2 and a 4-4-1 conference record. Reinhardt recently drew Point 2-2 in their AAC finale, before closing out the season with a 2-0 win over Life University. They finished the regular season with a 10-5-1 overall record and a 4-4-1 record in conference play.Â
Bluefield took the better seed as a result of the conference tiebreaker, which first looks at the head-to-head matchup during regular season play. Bluefield secured an important 1-0 away win over Reinhardt on October 8.Â
"We are extremely grateful and humbled to have the opportunity to host such an important quarterfinal playoff game", expressed head coach
Chase Neidig. "One of our goals at the beginning of the season as a program was to have a Top 4 finish and we did it. But it starts now.
We have so much to play for still and we are expecting a very, very good Reinhardt side on Saturday to come in and give us an exciting match".
Admission into the game at East River Soccer Complex will be $6 for adults, $3 for students and those under 18 years of age. All Bluefield College students with a valid ID will be admitted for free.Â
The AAC tournament is single-elimintaiion and began Tuesday with two respective opening round matches for the No. 7- No. 10 seeded teams.Â
The semi-final and final matches will be played at the highest remaining seed after the quarterfinal results are completed.Â
