COLUMBIA, Ky. – One week after leading No. 10 Faulkner at the half, the Bluefield College Rams held a second quarter lead on NAIA's No. 3 team before falling 28-9 Saturday afternoon at Lindsey Wilson College.
The Rams took a 3-0 lead in the second period on Drake Presley's first collegiate field goal, a 29-yard kick with 8:47 to play in the half. LWC carried a 7-3 lead into the intermission.
The Blue Raiders scored a pair of touchdowns in the third before Shane Milhorne carried it two yards for a score to make it 21-9. LWC added a late touchdown for the game's final score.
Adrian Pope, last week's Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week carried 14 times for 63 yards and Marion Harris added 55 yards on nine rushes. Cason Whitt, making his second start at quarterback, completed 18-of-43 passes for 224 yards with an interception. Semaj Tisdale and Mason Maples each caught six passes, Tisdale for 84 yards, Maples for 72.
Defensively for the Rams, Ernest Moore, Frank Brooks and Harry Casseus had 10 tackles apiece. The 28 points scored by Lindsey Wilson were the fewest allowed this season by the Bluefield defense. Despite the score disparity, the Rams and Blue Raiders were even in total offense. Bluefield racked up 369 yards to 371 for Lindsey Wilson.
Bluefield (0-4, 0-1) makes its third trip to the Bluegrass State this season and second in a row next Saturday when it visits Campbellsville.
