Rams fall 9-2 to end 2015 season

MASON, Ohio -- Bluefield took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, but No. 5 seed Central Baptist College scored in six of the final seven innings to hand the Rams a 9-2 loss and end the 2015 season at Prasco Park.

BC ends its season at 26-30 after dropping all four pool play games at the NCCAA World Series. This was the Rams' third appearance at the World Series since the format changed to pool play in 2011, but the program's first time going winless.

Fresno Pacific and Palm Beach Atlantic advanced out of Pool A with identical 3-0-1 records, while Lee (4-0) and Oklahoma Christian (3-1) advanced out of Pool B.

Sawyer McLamb singled in the second inning and was driven in all the way from first on Jacob Schober's following double for a 1-0 lead.

The Mustangs used small ball in the next inning to even the score, bunting three times--once for a hit, once reaching base on an error and once being a sacrifice.

CBC added single runs in the next two frames, before posting three runs in the seventh on three hits to make it 7-1.

Bluefield stranded a pair in the bottom of both the fifth and seventh innings, as they played as the home team for the first time during the week.

The Mustangs tacked on two more in the ninth. McLamb sent a solo homer to right-center field in the top of the ninth for the 9-2 final.

Kaleb Houchins (2-6) took the loss for the Rams, tossing five innings and allowing three runs on seven hits. Alex Haas tossed three innings, surrendering four runs on six hits. Dylan Cole gave up the final two runs in the ninth inning on three hits.

Kody Gill claimed the win for CBC, going the distance. He allowed the two runs on eight hits.
