BLUEFIELD, Va. -- A season-high eight errors from the Bluefield College baseball team helped No. 10 Tennessee Wesleyan College to a 13-1 win in seven innings on Friday night at Bowen Field in the Appalachian Athletic Conference series opener.
The Rams (20-13, 5-9 AAC) squared the game at one in the bottom of the first, as a

But, Tennessee Wesleyan (27-8, 12-3 AAC) came back with a four-run third, tallying four hits and being aided by three Bluefield errors in the frame. The visitors tacked on three runs in the third and added two more in the fourth for the 10-1 advantage.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs' Jarrod Jameson (6-2) was in command on the mound. En route to the win, Jameson allowed eight hits, but his defense backed him up by turning four double plays.
Tennessee Wesleyan closed out the game with three runs in the top of the seventh, once again being assisted by a pair of Rams errors in the inning.
Timmer and
Garrett Schilling each went 2-for-3 at the plate, being the only Rams to log multiple hits. Timmer pushed his hitting streak to 11 games, the team's longest of the season. Meanwhile,
Chris McCollister singled to reach base in his team-best 18th-straight game.
Cory Niten (4-2) received the loss. Niten tossed 2.2 innings, allowing six hits and eight runs--only two of which were earned.
Luke Harris came on in relief allowing a pair of runs in 1.1 innings of work.
Dylan Cole and
Dylan Ruth each tossed an inning, allowing no runs, with Ruth striking out all three batters he faced.
Chaz Miller closed the game allowing three runs--one being unearned.
The teams return to action on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. for the series-ending doubleheader, featuring a pair of seven-inning contests.
