BLUEFIELD, Va. -- No. 10 Tennessee Wesleyan claimed 4-1 and 10-4 wins over Bluefield College on Saturday at Bowen Field, completing the Appalachian Athletic Conference series sweep.
Bluefield (20-15, 5-11 AAC) outhit the visitors 6-5 in the opening game, but a pair of solo home runs and two more single-run frames pushed TWC (29-8, 14-3) to the 4-1 victory. The Rams were then held to just a pair of hits in the series finale, in which the Bulldogs pulled away late with six runs over the final two frames.
Game 1Tennessee Wesleyan's first two hits were solo homers, coming in the first and third innings for a 2-0 lead.
While

The Bulldogs plated single runs in both the sixth and seventh innings.

Game 2After the visitors took a 1-0 lead in the first, Bluefield came back with three runs in the bottom half. A dropped fly ball kept the inning alive for Bluefield, while the Bulldogs' starter struggled to find control. Taylor Patterson faced eight batters, walking four and hitting one to bring three Rams across the plate. TWC went to its bullpen and only allowed one run the rest of the game to finish off the three-game sweep.

Tennessee Wesleyan scored two in the third to knot it at 3-all before claiming the lead for good with a single run in the fifth. The visitors tacked on four more in the fifth behind three triples in the inning and added two more in the seventh.
Bluefield scored their final run in the sixth, as Ratliff was hit by a pitch and Copeland walked to start the frame. A
Ryan Lawson single scored Ratliff.
