ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Bluefield College men's volleyball team was overpowered by the veteran King University program (12-25, 13-25, 8-25) on Saturday before it battled in a close contest against Marymount, yet fell in straight sets against the tri-match hosting Saints, 24-26, 22-25, 15-25.
The Rams drop to 3-13 in their inaugural season with the pair of defeats. King, which also defeated Marymount, improves to 10-7 this season and the split for the Saints moves them to 10-15 for the year.
Matt Epperson led Bluefield with five kills against King.
Isaiah Williams had 11 assists. The Rams' normally strong net defense was held to  just three total blocks.
David Gianesin logged a team-best seven digs.
The Rams forced Marymount to take the opening set of the weekend finale by a 26-24 margin. Bluefield registered nine kills and hit at a .353 clip, but came up just short in the set. The second was another close one with BC recording nine kills once again, but Marymount once again came out on top, 25-22 and then carried momentum to a 25-15 victory in the final set for the sweep.
Gianesin's eight kills paced Bluefield, which continues to play with on of its top outside hitters
Connor Holland, due to injury.Epperson added five kills.
Isaiah Williams claimed 15 assists.
Bluefield was slightly more successful at the net in game two, recording six team blocks.

Isaiah Williams had two solo blocks apiece. Epperson led Bluefield with a personal-best 12 digs.
The Rams hit the court again on Tuesday, traveling to face Bryan College. The match is slated for a 6:30 p.m. start.
