BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Bluefield University men's volleyball team split a pair of matches Thursday, falling to Warner in the opener before bouncing back with a four-set win over Webber International.
In the first match of the day, Bluefield dropped a 3-1 decision to Warner (11-25, 20-25, 25-23, 20-25).
The Rams finished with 34 kills and hit .083 as a team while recording 33 digs. Kari Williams led the offense with 12 kills, while Mamadou Dieng added eight kills on a .429 hitting percentage. Mason Lloyd contributed five kills and a team-high three service aces, and Kaden Porter provided a spark with three kills on three swings.
BU showed resilience in the third set, earning a 25-23 win to extend the match, but Warner responded to close out the contest in four.
The Rams rebounded in the nightcap with a 3-1 victory over Webber International (25-22, 24-26, 25-22, 27-25).
Bluefield totaled 50 kills and hit .216 in the win, highlighted by a dominant opening set where the Rams swung at a .520 clip. Mason Lloyd led the way with 23 kills, while Mamadou Dieng added nine kills on a .400 hitting percentage. Kari Williams contributed 13 kills, and Richard Cisneros was impactful at the net with six kills and seven block assists.
Setter Benedict Somes orchestrated the offense with 44 assists as the Rams held off a late push in the fourth set to secure the victory.
